【SALZBURG】EN ROUTE TO SALZBURG, AUSTRIA --- THE SOUND OF MUSIC /// MOZART'S BIRTHPLACE

Salzburg is a city that is easy to explore in just one day! The entire place is a UNESCO World Heritage site, filled with stunning gardens and Baroque style architectural structures. Being home to composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and several "Sound of Music" scenes were filmed here, it's also famed for its majestic backdrop of snow-capped Alps.

My friend and I joined a day tour to Salzburg from Munich since we have nothing much to do for the entire day. (Get your Day Tour to Salzburg ticket here!)

We met up with the tour guide and the others at Munich Central Train Station, departed at around 9am and returned to Munich Central station at around 6pm+.

En route to Salzburg by train... the scenery was amazing.

We were here after 1.5 hrs train ride. The tour guide "lectured" us about the history of Munich and Salzburg ... it was quite interesting, however, my mind was somewhere else.

MIRABELL PALACE & GARDENS
Mozart concerts are often held here. As for The Sound of Music fans, this should not be missed. This was where the children danced around Pegasus fountain and sang "Do Re Mi"

This place was featured in The Sound of Music too!

STROLL DOWN GETREIDEGASSE
The most famous shopping street in Salzburg.

MOZART'S BIRTHPLACE AND MUSEUM
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and raised in Salzburg, he and his family lived here for almost 30 years. This building is now a museum where you get to see the instruments he played and used to compose a song.

SCENIC WALK THROUGH SALZBURG
We skipped the funicular railway (Festungsbahn) to HOHENSALZBURG FORTRESS, we chose to walk up instead and enjoy the view over Salzburg. We did not make it to the fortress for the spectacular view because we were cold and hungry!

Here are some photos I took along the way...

CAFE TOMASELLI - MOZART'S FAVORITE CAFE
This is where Mozart sipped his coffee.

MOZART CHOCOLATE BALL
There are different types of Mozart chocolate balls selling everywhere in Salzburg. Look for the blue & silver wrapper for authentic Mozart chocolate ball.

STREET FOOD

Took these last few shots of photos before heading back to Munich!

Last but not least, NO KANGAROOS IN AUSTRIA =')
