【MACAU 澳門】FOODIE BUCKET LIST

Macau famous food - The two main places for street food are Senado Square (Macau Peninsular) and Taipa Village.

I had my lunch at Chou Kei 青洲灶記咖啡 on the day I arrived, it's just a few streets away from Grand Lapa Macau. Ordered a Pork chop bun and a red bean milk tea which is one of the must-try eateries in Macau.

The pork chop bun was dry, salty and too much pepper for my liking, the red bean milk tea was nice.

MACAU FOODIE BUCKET LIST

2. Macau Fei Zhai Kei 澳門肥仔記花生糖

There are several flavors of handmade peanut candy which similar to Koi Kei Bakery. After strolling around Rua da Felicidade, you'll see an uncle making the peanut candy with the traditional method at his little stall (車仔檔). I bought a packet of crunchy peanut candy, love it! The taste may not be the best (up to individual preference) but I really appreciate the handmade products.

Price: MOP38 (crunchy peanut candy)

Location: Nearby Rua da Felicidade 福隆新街, will see a stall at the corner (車仔檔)

3. Leitaria I Son 義順牛奶公司

Specialized in steamed milk pudding with 150 years of history. Served in either hot or cold. I prefer cold pudding, ordered one cold milk pudding, smooth and creamy. Choose other flavors if you hate milk because it's VERY milky.

Price: MOP32 (milk pudding 双皮奶)

Location: Senado Square

4. Loja De Comidas Sio Seong Hoi 小上海鍋貼

Tried the mini Fried Pau (生煎包) & Pot Stickers (鍋貼). The crispy base was just nice, super satisfying. It would be better to have ginger & vinegar to go with the pot stickers.

Location: Senado Square

5. Dijun Taiwan Pepper Cake 台灣帝鈞碳烤胡椒餅

Kaoh Hsiung's famous Pepper Cake. A Michelin-Awarded Street Food in Macau. The name says it all, PEPPER cake. Do expect for a strong peppery taste. Worth trying, perhaps I should try it in Taiwan.

6. 小儀養生坊 (Next to Sei Kee Cafe, Senado Square)

Fish Maw花膠 is famous here, some ordered squid or lobster. They look tantalizingly delicious! I ordered the wagyu beef cube instead so I could keep some space for other street food. No regret! Juicy and tender wagyu beef melted in my mouth!

Location: Senado Square (Opposite of Laneigh, the alley between BCM bank and Etude House)

8. Lemoncello Gelato 檸檬車露意大利手拉雪糕

9. Heng You 恆友

Famous for its secret curry sauce. Thick and tasty. Besides fish balls, there are beef and various hot pot ingredients to dip and eat with the tasty curry sauce! As an anti-fish-ball-person, I don't mind having another bowl again.

Price: MOP 10 for 8 fish balls

Hours: 10:00 am – 12:00 am

Location: Senado Square / Rua do Cunha 官也街 (Taipa)

#megantraveltips There are a few stalls selling the same food and the queue looked similar, I picked one randomly - Heng You 恆友.  If you like the secret curry sauce, get one back!

10. Koi Kei Bakery 鉅記餅家

One of the top three souvenir shops, it's everywhere in Macau (over 20 outlets). Every outlet is just a few streets away. They offer food sampling so you can try before you buy. The most famous souvenirs are peanut candy and almond biscuits. I LOVE THEIR PEANUT CANDY!! They also sell meat jerky and other pastries or snack.

Alternative choice: Choi Heong Yuen Bakery 咀香園餅家 / Pastelaria Fong Kei 晃記餅家

#megantraveltips Buy any snacks/souvenirs before heading to the Macau International airport as the choices are very limited and it's extra expensive.

11. Meat jerky 肉乾

There are many shops that sell meat jerky and sampling is offered. The meat jerky is thick and juicy (thicker than the one we usually bought in Malaysia), very delicious but it's salty. It goes really well with plain bread.

Location: Senado Square, Taipa, etc

#megantraveltips Try all the flavors before buying.  黑毛猪 Pork jerky is delicious.

12. Gelatina Mok Yi Kei 莫義記

Get the authentic durian ice cream at Mok Yi Kei. I find it a little too sweet, otherwise, it's perfect.
Location: Senado Square, Taipa Village

Bestseller: Durian Ice Cream and Sawdust Pudding (Serradura)

13. Lord Stow's Bakery 澳門安德魯餅店

Lord Stow's Bakery has seven outlets in Macau. Unfortunately, their main outlet is located at Coloane Village which is quite a distance away, I ended up getting my egg tarts from the Lord Stow’s Bakery at Rua do Cunha, Taipa. MUST-TRY this authentic Macau Portuguese egg tart! The creamy and rich custard layer melt in every bite.

Price: MOP10 (1 pcs), MOP55 (6 pcs)

Location: Coloane Village, Taipa (Rua do Cunha), Cotai (The Venetian Macao)

#megantraveltips Buy a few boxes back, reheat in the oven and eat it while it's piping hot! MUST EAT IT PIPING HOT, it tastes extra delicious.

14. Mochi Macau 澳門長洲糯米糍

Fresh fruit Mochi comes with mango, strawberry, kiwi, and durian stuffed. I would give the Mango Mochi with its thin and chewy mochi skin a big thumbs up!! My favorite!
Price: MOP17 / pcs

Location: Taipa (Rua do Cunha)

Time: 9:00 am – 10:00 pm

15. San Hou Lei 新好利美食餅店

A good place for brunch or tea time at Taipa Village. San Hou Lei famous for its bird's nest tart. Didn't eat it on the spot due to stomach constraints. Couldn't taste much of the bird's nest. Overall it's unique but the taste was.... moderately well...
Price: MOP15 / pcs (Bird Nest Tart)

Location: Taipa Village (Nearby Rua do Cunha)

Time: 7.15 am – 6.15 pm

16. Phoenix Lava Macau

Thailand famous pao has finally arrived in Macau. The cute and attractive packaging lured me to the store. There are various flavors available, I decided to try the original lao sha pao. The taste and the wobbly custard, everything was perfectly fine except for its price. I personally think that it's a little too expensive for a small lao sha pao.

Price: MOP19 / pcs

Location: Nearby San Ma Lou street (Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro)

Time: 10.00am – 8.00 pm
